Current priorities

Here are some areas in particular where we could do with some help:

* Dry bag driving in North Manchester (especially if you live in the M8/M9 area).
* Hot meal driving — Mondays, 11:15 am-12:30 pm. Delivery of 150 meals to Ashton.
* Van driving — especially on Thursdays (12:30-2:15 pm and 3:45-7 pm)
* Lead cooks — Tuesdays, 1:15-3 pm; Thursdays, 1:15-3 pm

Cook

Sessions:
Monday to Saturday: mornings and early afternoons. Each session lasts around 2-3 hours.

As a cook, you will help prepare and pack a number of emergency hot meals which will be given to our service users. You will then wash the dishes and do some light cleaning.

There are two roles: (a) Lead Cook and (b) Cooking Assistant.

*No prior experience required. Training will be provided for both roles.

Call Handler

Sessions:
Monday to Sunday: Morning slot (9-1), Afternoon slot (1-5), or Backup slot (9-5).

As a call handler, you will receive calls from our clients for emergency food collections or deliveries. You will then forward this information to the rest of our team. Each call lasts around 2-5 minutes.

The backup call handler will catch any calls that the morning/afternoon call handlers miss.

*This role is remote.

Dry Bag Packer

Sessions:
Sundays, 11 am-1 pm

Our dry bag team pack our emergency dry food bags, ensuring that they’re ready for collection/delivery. They will also do some light tidying/cleaning.

Dry bag driver

Sessions:
Flexible: any time from 9 am-9 pm. 1-3 deliveries per week, on average. Each delivery should take around 20-30 minutes.

Dry bag drivers store around 5 bags at home and are contacted by text or phone when a delivery in their local area is needed. Deliveries are ad hoc and entirely flexible — drivers can accept or decline each request.

*Driving licence and own vehicle required.

Hot Meal Driver

Feed My City - Hot Food Driver

Sessions:
Monday to Friday, 11 am-3 pm. We also have shorter slots at other times.

As a hot meal driver, you would arrive at the Feed My City base at 11 am, collect 3-8 delivery requests (which consist of emergency hot meals, dry food bags, fruit, and bread), and deliver them to individuals and families in the Manchester/Salford/Trafford area, in an area of your choice.

*Driving licence and own vehicle required.

Van Team

Sessions:
Each session runs Monday to Saturday in the early afternoons/evening. 2-3 hours total time.

Two roles: (a) Van Driver, and (b) Van Assistant.
Each session, our van team (2-3 people) will arrive at our base in Beswick (M4 7HR), take hot meals to one of our van locations and hand them out. You will then drive/be driven back to the Feed My City base.

*Requirements: Van driver: aged 25-70 with a clean driving licence; van assistant: none.

Stock Pickup Team

Sessions:
(Flexible day and time) We would ask that you be available at least twice a month. Each session will take up to 2 hours.

Our stock team picks up stock from Aldi, Farmfoods, Fareshare, Kara Foods, and our stoage locker, and transports it back to the Feed My City base (M4 7HR).

*Own vehicle and driving licence required.

    Admin

    Sessions:
    Monday to Friday: 11 am-3 pm; Saturday: 11 am-2 pm; Sunday: 11 am-2 pm

Our admins ensure that our daily operation runs smoothly. This involves manning the Feed My City base (M4 7HR), handing out food to our clients, responding to our food request emails, and ensuring that all of our delivery requests have a driver.
